PETERSON
TOSCANO
Peterson Toscano a self-described theatrical performance activist,
spent 17 years and over $30,000 receiving gay reparative therapy
including nearly two years in the Love In Action residential "ex-gay"
program in Memphis, TN. He did not become straight, but he lived to
tell the tale through his original one-person play, "Doin' Time in the
Homo No Mo Halfway House."
Since premiering the play in Memphis, TN in 2003, he has travelled
throughout the US, Europe and West Africa speaking and performing at
universities, high schools, churches, theaters and conferences. His
other works include, "Queer 101", "How the Indians Discovered
Columbus", "The Re-Education of George W. Bush" and "Footprints, An
Inspirational Comedy". Praised for his daring comedy and provocative
material, audiences appreciate Toscano’s ability to tell stories that
do not attack or preach.
Toscano, a Quaker, lives in Hartford, CT. He serves on the board of
True Colors which sponsors North America's largest LGBTIQ conference
for youth and is a regular speaker for the Connecticut Stonewall
